Malaysian author Claudia Tan popped onto the entertainment scene with the release of her romance novel, Perfect Addiction (2019).

Now, she is making a name for herself in the music industry.

From releases such as Toast (2023), Chillin' (2020), and Nice Guy (2022), Tan's prominence in the music industry has only grown since her endeavours as an acclaimed author.

However, a recent TikTok by the singer has made waves online after she released short renditions of songs by other Malaysians artistes from the 2000s and 2010s

Titling the TikTok "Malaysian Songs That You Grew Up To Listening On The Radio", among the songs Tan included were What You Waiting For (2010) by Mizz Nina, Havoc (2013) by Joe Flizzow, Bitter Heart (2009) by Zee Avi, No More (2016) by SonaOne, and Stay (2006) by Estrella.

Receiving more than 400,000 views and about 50,000 likes at the time of writing, many people expressed the nostalgia they felt while listening to Tan's TikTok

"I used to listen to Stay (2006) in the morning on MTV before going to school," recalled once user, while another stated that Mizz Nina's song used to be his ringtone back when he was in university.

One user even pointed out how he forgot that some of these songs were by Malaysian singers due to their popularity when they was first released.

"I can't wrap the fact around my head that these songs were during my campus days and are actually songs other adults 'grew up with'. I feel so old!" said another user in a light-hearted manner.

Aside from that, other commenters even added songs that they had a nostalgic connection towards, including Zee Avi's Kantoi (2009), Yuna's Dan Sebenarnya (2010), and I Fell in Love with the DJ (2007) by Malaysian-born artiste, Che'Nelle.

Among the multitude of comments, one that truly stood out was from none other than Zee Avi, the singer whose song Tan had covered in her TikTok.

"Love this so much," said Zee Avi in the comments section, before Claudia thanked the artiste for making her childhood with her songs.
