This '70s-Inspired 'Hidden' Listening Bar & Café Is Tucked Away In A KL Bookstore
Tokyo vibes.
Ever felt "too old for clubbing"? Well, here's an option you might enjoy instead.
A new listening bar and café recently opened in the heart of KL featuring music-sharing sessions with all-vinyl DJ sets.
Within Eslite Spectrum, a popular Taiwanese booktore in Starhill Gallery, you'll find V88 Starhill. It's an all-day restaurant, café, and listening bar built around a sound system, with its music curated by fono, a boutique agency in The Zhongshan Building that's well known for its niche parties and vinyl DJ sets.
Set up to provide customers an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life to have quality conversations, the café and bar extends its operating hours to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays for DJs who play strictly on vinyls and equipment that are still in working condition from the late '70s.
There's indoor and outdoor seating, with a balcony-view that overlooks the bustling street of Bukit Bintang
Their menu includes burgers and cakes, as well as Japanese fusion dishes such as noodles, rice bowls, and yakitori.
You can grab a cup of coffee, or if you're in the mood, the bar also serves alcoholic beverages for those looking for a cheeky cocktail or glass of wine
Weekly music-sharing sessions are happening throughout May with different DJs showcasing their record collection, featuring diverse sounds from contemporary jazz to soulful house, and Asian funk to dub reggae.
