There's A Huge Turtle Mural On A Beach Rock In Kuantan Side-Eyeing Tourists

A mural of a turtle painted on a large rock at Tanjung Pelindung Beach has been drawing attention recently
The mural, which measures 10m tall and 20m long, was created by four artists from Project ZeroSix — Amir Faruk, 34; Kamal Idris, 33; Azri Azahar, 35; and Muhd Ikmal Manan, 29.
In a caption on their Instagram post, the artists shared that it took them four days to complete the entire piece.What they didn't anticipate was that their artwork would quickly go viral, attracting hundreds of visitors, according to a report by Berita Harian.
In less than a month since its completion, this mural, along with a second piece featuring a baby sea turtle they created on the beach, has drawn a huge crowd
"It was former Kuantan City Council mayor Datuk Hamdan Hussin, who is now the Pahang Land and Mines office director, who proposed the idea after he noticed the perfectly shaped 'head' and 'body' formed on the rocks. He goes walking at the beach regularly," team leader Amir was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times.
Amir explained that they were unable to use a hydraulic sky lift because the vehicle couldn't be brought to that side of the beach. As a result, they had to manually weld and screw in a platform to reach the higher section of the rock.
The artist mentioned that they only needed to paint the turtle's head and the bottom half, leaving the shell untouched to maintain the rock's originality
Sea turtles were once common on that particular beach, especially during the '80s and '90s, he shared. Amir added that he hopes this project with Tourism Pahang will continue to attract more visitors to this lesser-known beach.
"However, we expect visitors to maintain cleanliness and not litter on the beach," he said.
