10 Areas In Klang Are At Risk Of Facing Floods Between 9 And 12 October
It is due to thunderstorms and high tide phenomena.
10 areas in the Klang district have a high chance of being flooded due to thunderstorms and high tide phenomena from today, 9 October to Friday, 12 October
According to Klang district officer Mohd Zainal Mohd Nor, the affected areas are:
- Pengkalan Tok Muda
- Sementa
- The fisherman jetty at Kampung Perapat
- Sungai Keramat
- Jalan Pandamaran
- Taman Selat Damai
- North Port
- Port Klang
- Pulau Ketam
- Teluk Gong
High tide phenomena is expected to strike the coast of Selangor from today onwards, with its highest peak of 5.6m on Thursday, 11 October
Mohd Zainal confirms that 100 personnel from various agencies will be on standby from 5am daily as tides are expected to rise from 6.05am.
Additionally, state DID director Azmi Ibrahim said that several excavators and some 20 mobile pumps are part of the resources of the preparation.
Eight evacuation centres have been set up as a temporary shelter in the following locations:
- Kampung Tok Muda multipurpose hall
- Sekolah Rendah Agama Sementa
- Sekolah Rendah Agama Batu 4 Kapar
- The multipurpose hall at Jalan Palembang Rantau Panjang
- Dewan Dato Ahmad Razali at Batu 4 Kapar
- Bandar Sultan Sulaiman in North Port multipurpose hall
- Pandamaran Sports Complex
- SJKC Lee Min Teluk Gong
The Selangor Disaster Management Unit also announced that several coastal areas in Selangor will be facing high tides from now till November
Besides Klang, the other coastal areas that are at risk are Kuala Langat, Sepang, Kuala Selangor, and Sabak Bernam.
In addition to that, MET predicted that Selangor may experience the heaviest rainfall in October, as reported by Oriental Daily.
