"This Is Abuse" —21YO Claims Her Mother Keeps Her Locked Up At Home In Shocking Confession
"I'm not even allowed to open the house's gate," she confessed.
A Malaysian woman recently made an anonymous confession on X, claiming that her mother has been confining her to their home for over two months
In the post, the 21-year-old shared that her mother had a history of isolating her from the outside world. However, the situation worsened after she enrolled in a local university.
"I've been living like this for years, but when I recently started my degree, she decided to lock me up in our home more than before.
"It has been exactly two months and a half since I wasn't given permission to leave. I'm not even allowed to open the house's gate," she confessed.
The student also said that her mother's restrictions extended to her academic life, forcing her to pursue her degree online
In addition to facing difficulties in continuing her tertiary studies, she claimed that her mother forbade her from working with other companies.
Instead, she insisted that she work as an assistant at the same bank where her mother was employed.
This situation has taken a toll on her mental health, resulting in a decline in her academic performance and a resurgence of depression.
"I still have everything here but it's driving me crazy. My grades dropped and my depression came back," she wrote.
Despite being confined to her bedroom for most of the day, the woman shared that her mother would still reprimand her for spending too much time there.
Not knowing what to do, she sought advice from the anonymous confession page, where concerned netizens offered their support and guidance to the 21-year-old
"She won't even let you go to the park in your housing area? This is not normal," said one user.
"You're over 18 years old, and if you're being kept against your will, that's kidnapping. You can file a police report," suggested one user.
"This is abuse. If you get the chance, just leave and don't come back once you've finished your degree," wrote another.
