There have been 11 incidents involving lifts from 2019 until August this year, according to the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH)
A special Bernama report stated that of the 11, six of the cases were in Kuala Lumpur, two in Selangor, and one case each in Sarawak, Penang, and Melaka.
A total of 70,005 elevators are registered at DOSH since January to August this year nationwide and out of that number, 6,783 elevators are without CF, inactive, or faulty," the report said.
The Bernama report blamed an apparent lackadaisical attitude of the Joint Management Body (JMB) and the Management Corporation (MC) in appointing unqualified contractors for elevator maintenance as one of the reasons for the never-ending lift breakdowns in the country.
