An elderly man in Raub was recently fined for breaking home quarantine orders

Raub district police chief Supt Kama Azural Mohamed told The Star that the man, a 73-year-old, was out and about even though he was wearing a pink wristband and was supposed to be under Home Surveillance Order (HSO).

The authorities issued a compound of RM5,000.

The man had given the excuse that it was too hot at home and he wanted to go for a walk

"Such an excuse is highly unreasonable and can cause the spread of COVID-19 to the general public if he is found to be positive," said Kama Azural.

The senior citizen from Kampung Sungai Klau was fined under Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.

Meanwhile, two other individuals in Raub were also fined for gathering and dining at a premise in a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) area without a reasonable excuse

The other two men, aged 52 and 69, were fined RM2,000 as the whole district of Raub had been placed under the CMCO until 13 May due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in the area.

Adjoining subdistricts of Mukim Tras and Mukim Gali have also been placed under CMCO for the same duration.
