A Couple In Kedah Named Their Kids Dhury Yan and Rambutt'an
Well, that was a fruitful choice.
Abi Amin Mahayadin and Nor Faridah Abdul Rahim, a married couple from Kedah named their six-year-old son and one-year-old daughter after local fruits
The names were given by Abi Amin's grandfather.
“My grandfather wanted to name his great-grandchildren. Out of respect, we went along with his wishes. We were made to understand that the names have their own special meanings,” he told New Straits Times.
“We believe there are hidden meanings to the names as they are spelt differently from the fruits,” he added.
The names of Muhammad Dhury Yan (after Durian) and Nur Rambutt'an (after rambutan) have since gone viral
The couple recently had their third child last month and are still waiting for a name.
With all the positivity and laughs, negative comments and criticism also came to the family
“We’re not angry with those who shared the pictures. However, we are disappointed by the comments by some people, which have offended our family," said the father.
"What's next?
1. Ahmad Tembikhai (Watermelon with the nickname Khai)
2. Nur Bellimbing (Starfruit with the nickname Bell)
Anything also got."
"Of course the mom and dad don't care. But when the kids enroll in school, they're gonna be bullied and teased. Pity them, they can be mentally tortured you know if they're bullied in school."
