Andrew Tate Nabbed For Human Trafficking After His Video To Greta Allegedly Tipped Police
Netizens are saying karma was served to Andrew Tate for taunting a 19-year-old.
One of the most notorious figures on the Internet who is banned by multiple social media platforms for hate speech, Andrew Tate, has been arrested in Romania
The controversial online influencer and self-described misogynist, who passionately promotes hyper-masculinity ideologies, was arrested on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organised crime group, reported Reuters.
Prosecutors from the local anti-organised crime unit arrested him, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian suspects after raiding their properties in Bucharest.
The Romanian police have been investigating the Tate brothers since April. Their lawyers have since confirmed their arrest.
"The four suspects... appear to have created an organised crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing, and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost," prosecutors said.
"They would have gained important sums of money."
It is understood that local authorities found six women who had been sexually exploited by the Tate brothers
In the past, Andrew had said women are partially responsible for being raped and that they belong to men.
He, who is also a former kickboxer, also had said he would rather let a "fat dude" die, as he would not perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him but only on a hot woman.
He is known for propagating toxic masculinity ideologies, as he once said, "The masculine perspective you have to understand that life is war. It's a war for the female you want [...] Masculine life is war [...] Society's expectations of men is much higher than the societal expectations of females."
Andrew's source of income is said to be social media endorsements and a Webcam ring he ran with his 'girlfriends', which has a business model similar to those in the adult entertainment industry.
He claimed to have made his first million dollars when he was 27 years old, and recently became a "trillionaire".
Following the Tate brothers' arrest, Romanian media reported that the raids were carried out because prosecutors wanted to make sure they were in the country
Many netizens claimed that Andrew gave away his location when he uploaded a video response to 19-year-old environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
In the two-minute rant, two boxes of pizza can be seen in front of Andrew, leading many to believe that the pizza brand that only operates in Romania gave local police a confirmation about Andrew and Tristan's location.
The public feud on Twitter started when Andrew provoked Thunberg by showing off his list of carbon-emitting vehicles, which includes 33 supercars such as Bugatti and Ferrari.
In response, Thunberg invited Andrew to send the complete list to "[email protected]".
The Swedish activist's tweet spurred up a drama that the Internet did not ask for at the end of 2022, causing her and Andrew's names to trend globally on Twitter yesterday, 29 December.
Now, the Internet is celebrating the Tate brothers' arrest because netizens believe he brought it on himself and his brother.
Some, however, have pointed out that the "pizza box theory" is simply not true because Andrew had, on 25 December, said he was in Romania.
