Melaka state executive councillor Akmal Saleh said he received a message on Facebook about the incident of sexual harassment, asking for help

"This morning at dawn, I received a message from a friend on Facebook regarding an incident that happened to an acquaintance while returning to Melaka," he said in a statement, as quoted by Bernama.

"The young victim was too afraid to call out for help and could only cry. So, I and some friends waited in Melaka to assist this girl."

Lim said police arrested the suspect as soon as the bus arrived at the Melaka Sentral terminal a few hours later at about 10.30am

Based on initial information, the suspect is from Kota Tinggi, Johor, and was the second driver for the bus trip that morning.

He will be handed over to the Hulu Terengganu district police headquarters for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the victim made an official police report about the incident at the Melaka Sentral police station by noon.

Akmal Salleh stressed that the authorities take issues of outrage of modesty seriously and encouraged women not to remain silent to bring perpetrators of these sexual crimes to justice.
