Many owners said they were blocked after paying. One victim, Anran, was grieving the loss of her Beagle, Qiqi, when she was invited into a chat group for people who had lost their 'fur babies'

The psychic allegedly trawled the owner's social media posts to create fake answers.

Anran purchased a communication service and later an 899 yuan (about RM530) 'reincarnation' package.

She was told to pray daily until her dog appeared in a dream to reveal where it had been reborn.

When Anran complained after weeks of no dreams, the psychic, Ling, claimed it was because her belief was not strong enough

Shortly after, Ling blocked her on social media.

Another user revealed that at least 20 victims in one group were scammed out of a total of 10,000 yuan (about RM5,900). Some have since filed police reports.

The racket has sparked disbelief online, with many shocked that people were falling for the scam.
