A trading card game shop in Japan has issued an unusual bounty of 1 million yen (RM25,000) for the capture of a burglar who ransacked its store, under the strict condition that the suspect is captured alive

The break-in took place overnight on 22 July, at Kaitorip, a niche retail outlet located in Gifu, a city situated roughly halfway between Tokyo and Kyoto.

The intruder forced his way into the premises around 3.20am, tearing through display cabinets and making off with the majority of the store's high-value inventory, which primarily comprised rare Pokémon and One Piece collectable trading cards.

Seeking to apprehend the culprit, the shop posted CCTV footage of the burglary on social media, detailing its bounty structure

The store promised 1 million yen (RM25,000) to anyone who handed over the suspect alive. Meanwhile, individuals with credible leads earn 50,000 yen (RM1,250) under strict anonymity.

Netizens across Japanese social media quickly highlighted the store's requirement that the thief must be captured alive.

When commenters joked about whether a bruised suspect would fetch a lower payout, the store's owners confirmed that the full reward applies as long as the suspect is captured alive.
