A Singaporean court has sentenced a 27-year-old man to 32 months in prison and two strokes of the cane after his ex-girlfriend launched an undercover investigation to expose his extensive revenge porn campaign
The accused, Abdul Marzuq Waliyuddin Abdul Majid, systematically distributed explicit videos and photos of the victim within an online pornography network that specifically targeted women dressed in religious attire, according to Channel News Asia.
According to the court judgment released on Thursday, 25 June, Principal District Judge Toh Han Li also ordered the defendant to pay SGD4,000 (RM12,616) in compensation to the victim, whose personal life was severely shattered by the ordeal.
The case stems from a teenage relationship that began in 2016 when both parties attended a religious school together
Following their eventual break-up in 2017 or 2018 due to the accused's possessive and toxic behaviour, the victim requested the permanent deletion of all shared intimate footage. However, Waliyuddin secretly retained the files for his personal viewing.
The situation escalated during Ramadan in April 2021, when Waliyuddin attempted to reconcile with the victim despite actively dating another individual. When the victim chose to block his communication channels, he allegedly launched a smear campaign to humiliate her across a large social media platform.

He subsequently targeted a closed, administrator-approved chat group dedicated to non-consensual pornography featuring women wearing the hijab, a platform that reportedly had 79,348 members as of May 2021.
Waliyuddin paired her recent Facebook profile photos with derogatory captions such as "SG Madrasah Babe" to explicitly connect her real-world identity to pornography.
The court noted that his actions directly encouraged online predators; at least two users followed his account to discuss rape fantasies.
The victim uncovered the digital abuse in May 2021 after receiving explicit messages on Instagram from a stranger who provided a link to the group
Three days later, she decided to investigate the closed network herself. Her efforts successfully traced the illicit posts back to Waliyuddin's primary account, providing digital evidence that led to his arrest and the eventual shutdown of the platform.
The prosecution argued that the crime represented an egregious case of revenge porn, emphasising that the victim was a minor when the initial footage was captured
The judicial impact statement revealed that the victim has suffered severe emotional trauma, including a foiled suicide attempt, and remains estranged from her religious mother.
Judge Toh rejected the defence's claim that the offence was impulsive, concluding that Waliyuddin demonstrated a significant degree of premeditation to demean the victim publicly before attempting to delete his cloud accounts to cover his tracks.
