A customer recently took to Twitter to share her horrible experience of being harassed by a food delivery rider when he assumed she gave him a bad rating for his service

The customer, who chose to be identified as Tharshiny, tweeted that she had ordered food to be delivered to her on Tuesday, 3 January.

Once she received her food, she said that she rated the rider five stars and left it at that.

However, she was in for the shock of her life when she began receiving multiple offensive WhatsApp messages from an unknown number.

Upon closer inspection, she realised it was the number of the delivery rider. He was upset with her as he assumed she gave him a bad rating for his service.

"Hey! I travelled such a long distance to send you your food and you dropped my rating. Stupid. It's enough to be dumb, but you are dumb and not pretty," read the messages from the rider to Tharshiny.

Appalled by what she read, she replied, "Stupid, I gave you five stars. Why are you harassing me on WhatsApp?"

However, the rider refused to believe he could have mistaken her for someone else and continued his barrage of insults, going so far as to fat-shame her.

The harassment didn't stop there, as Tharshiny said she allegedly received four calls from the same number but was too afraid to pick up

Tharshiny proceeded to file a complaint with the delivery application's customer support, where she was told that the matter would be investigated and she would receive a response in one to three working days.

She said that the rider reaching out to her in such a manner was an invasion of privacy and she was worried for her safety as the rider now knows her address.

Tharshiny also said that no customer deserves to have their appearance, intelligence, and body insulted like that, regardless of whether they give one or five star ratings to their riders.

"We customers are not punching bags. No, I don't owe you to look pretty. Nor do I deserve to be abused like that even if I had given him a bad review," Tharshiny wrote.

In a brief conversation with SAYS, Tharshiny said that she would like to see the rider suspended for harassing her.

Tharshiny's tweet has since garnered 483,400 views and 2,544 likes

Having come across her tweet, one netizen decided to reach out to the delivery rider and confront him about his behaviour.

Surprisingly, the rider admitted that he made a mistake and insulted the wrong person.

"I mistook the person. I was angry because my rating dropped," the rider allegedly wrote to the netizen, whose tweet has now been deleted.

He explained that he was tired from working all day in the rain and sun and that he normally does a good job of sending food to customers.

He also apologised for his actions but the netizen said that it wasn't him that the rider should apologise to, but rather, Tharshiny.

According to Tharshiny, the rider has yet to extend an apology to her.
