Family members and colleagues of a security guard who was beaten to death in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, are mourning his loss, remembering him as a hardworking and responsible man dedicated to providing for his family

The fatal assault reportedly took place at about 1am on Sunday, 5 April, after the victim, 43-year-old G Anand, approached a group of men who were drinking in the residential area he was patrolling.

Still in shock from his death, a colleague who wished to be known only as Thana said Anand was known for his commitment to his work and rarely had any issues with residents or visitors.

"He never got into trouble. He was just doing his job. It was a shock for all of us," she said, as quoted by the New Straits Times.

She added that Anand usually worked the night shift and was responsible for patrolling across five designated security posts within the neighbourhood.

The incident was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras located in front of the guardhouse.

"It happened right in front of the security booth, so everything was recorded on CCTV," she said.

Meanwhile, family members described Anand as a devoted husband and father who worked two jobs to support his family

His elder brother, Segar, 50, said Anand worked at a production company during the day and took on security work at night to supplement his income.

"By day, he worked at a production company. By night, he worked as a security guard to make ends meet," he told the New Straits Times.

Segar added that his younger brother had been working especially hard due to financial pressures and was deeply committed to providing a better life for his two sons, aged nine and 13.

"He only took on this job because of financial difficulties," he said.

Anand's sister, Malar, 44, said the family is still struggling to come to terms with his sudden death.

"He was a loving father and a caring brother. Everything he did was for his family," she said.

Anand was laid to rest at Fairy Park Heritage City in Shah Alam on Tuesday, 7 April.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder:
