Kelantan Women Donate Jewellery To Support 'Gold for Palestine' Initiative
Contributions are being collected from both non-governmental organisations and individuals.
The Kelantan state government recently launched the 'Gold for Palestine' project on 30 October to encourage women in the state to donate their gold to raise funds in support of Palestinians
According to Bernama, state Women and Family Development Committee chairman Rohani Ibrahim said the initiative reflects the deep concern of the people of Kelantan for Palestine, transcending religion, ethnicity, and background.
"This initiative is the first of its kind launched specifically for Kelantanese women, demonstrating their empathy for the plight of the Palestinian people," she said.
Rohani said women have already donated up to 592g of jewellery, including rings, pendants, bracelets, and gold chains, as well as RM23,643 in cash
She told reporters that the contributions are being collected from both non-governmental organisations and individuals.
The chairman added that gold is closely associated with women, which is why this special programme was initiated.
