Husband Weeps As Wife Dies After Being Thrown Off DASH Highway

A woman died after losing control of her motorcycle and being thrown off the Damansara-Shah Alam Elevated Expressway (DASH) on Tuesday evening, 25 February

According to Berita Harian, the incident occurred at KM0.7 of the highway heading towards Shah Alam.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shahrulnizam Ja'afar said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division received a report of the incident at around 6.50pm.

The police chief said the woman is believed to have fallen from an estimated height of 30 to 35m from the elevated highway

"Investigations found that the victim, a 30-year-old local woman, was riding a motorcycle and is believed to have lost control while navigating a bend.

"The motorcycle then grazed a car in front before the victim was thrown off the flyover (overpass) from an estimated height of 30 to 35m," he said in a statement yesterday, 26 February.

He added that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries to multiple parts of her body.

According to a video by Malaysia Gazette, the woman's husband was seen grieving at the scene of her death.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987

"Further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident," said the police chief.

"We urge any witnesses who saw or were present at the scene to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting any nearby police station or investigating officer, Insp Muhammad Hisyam Azih, at +017-7378704," he said.

Shahrulnizam also reminded all road users to adhere to traffic rules at all times to prevent accidents.

The tragic incident has ignited discussions on social media, with netizens calling for better safety measures to be implemented on the elevated highway, especially for motorcycle riders
