[VIDEO] Inspiring One-Arm M'sian Soldier Goes Viral For Showing How He Puts On His Uniform
"I hope those who watch my TikTok videos can take them positively," said the soldier.
A TikTok video made by a remarkable disabled soldier, Mohd Hazri Abdul, went viral after he showcased his unique method of putting on his uniform using only one arm
In the 49-second clip, Mohd Hazri is seen demonstrating the process of getting into his uniform without any assistance.
In the video's caption, he also mentioned he would be retiring soon and decided to capture this moment as a lasting memory.
At the time of writing, the video has garnered over 4.5 million views.
Hazri said he did not expect the video to go viral and was overwhelmed by the positive comments he received
Speaking to Harian Metro, the soldier said he wasn't born with disabilities, but a life-altering accident on 19 July, 2022, left him with only one arm.
Mohd Hazri said his left hand had to be amputated to prevent infection, as it was crushed and nearly severed due to getting caught in a vehicle's rim.
In the accident, the soldier fell while riding pillion on a motorcycle ridden by his friend as they were travelling from Felda Pasir Besar to Kem Syed Sirajuddin in Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.
"After the accident, the doctor told my wife that there were only two options for me: either cut the hand or leave it as it is. If we did not proceed with removing it, the risk of infection would have been high," he said
"Knowing that my arm would be amputated, I accepted it, although in my heart, I didn't want to," Mohd Hazri added.
Mohd Hazri was thankful to have friends and family who supported him through that challenging period
He also said his wife, Noraini Alias, 29, was very understanding, supportive, and his pillar of strength.
"During Hari Raya Aidiladha last year, I had to learn to live life as an OKU. I rarely use the prosthetic arm because it's uncomfortable, but I had no other choice than to get used to it," he said.
He also expressed relief and gratefulness that netizens did not ridicule him for his disability after the video went viral.
"I hope those who watch my TikTok videos can take them positively. Honestly, I am content with Allah's decree and grateful for being given a second lease on life," he added.
