Orang Asli Student Breaks Down In Tears After Scoring 4.0 CGPA In STPM

An Orang Asli student broke down in tears after scoring a perfect grade of 4.0 CGPA in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2023 examination
In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, Jazlin Jusoh choked up with emotion as she talked about how her hard work had finally paid off and how she fulfilled her father's wishes.
"I have received the fruits of my hard work. All my exhaustion and pain…," Jazlin said, trying to hold back her tears.
"I have achieved what my dad wanted for me. He wanted me to do well in the exam," she said, sobbing.
Jazlin said her mother, Juriah Lima, and father, Jusoh Kutar, made many sacrifices for her to excel academically, and she expressed her hope to repay them one day.
"Today, I have proven that children of rubber tappers can succeed academically if they study hard, never give up, and use all available time for revisions," she told Berita Harian.
Jazlin expressed her desire to study at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) to become a teacher
She scored 5 A's, 2 B's, and 1 C in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. It was during Form 6 that she realised the future she wanted for herself and the university she wished to attend.
"I will major in Geography education, which has been an interest of mine for a long time. Hopefully, this [decision] will open up opportunities for me to become a teacher one day."
In addition to her perfect results, Jazlin was also awarded an award for being the best student in the national ranking in the Orang Asli category by the Malaysian Examination Council.
Orang Asli Development Department (JAKOA) director Johari Alwi said Jazlin was the only Orang Asli in Pahang to score a 4.0 CGPA.
