Police And K9 Unit Used Bag Belonging To 11-Year-Old Last Victim To Help Find Him

The bag was brought to the search operation by the victim's mother, the sole survivor of the family.

The search and rescue (SAR) team at Batang Kali, Selangor, found the body of the last victim on Saturday, 24 December, with the help of the child's personal possession, a Spiderman bagpack

In a tragic photo shared by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), it was reported that the last of the 31 that died in the landslide that struck Father's Organic Farm was found with an item that belonged to the young victim, 11-year-old Eng Shao Qi.

According to Harian Metro, Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Suffian Abdullah said the bag was brought to the search operation by the victim's mother to help with scent identification by the police force's tracker dog unit (K9).

The SAR personnel finally located the victim at 4.53pm on Saturday about 1.5 metres deep in Sector A of the landslide site

Suffian said the remains of the last victim were found in a sleeping bag about four metres from the original campsite.

The victim, Eng, was a Standard Five student from a Chinese primary school, SJKC Mun Choong, whose teachers and students were camping at the farm when tragedy struck.

New Straits Times reported that the family is only survived by Eng's mother, who did not join the camping trip. The boy's sister, who went to the same school, and their father Gary Eng, who operated the school's canteen, were also killed in the disaster.

The incident, which occurred at 2.42am on 16 December, claimed a total of 31 lives, with 61 rescued out of a total of 92 victims involved.

The campsite was divided into three sectors to aid in the search. Out of 31 victims, 20 bodies were found in Sector A, one in Sector B, and 10 bodies in Sector C.
