SG Tenant Expresses Regret For Hanging Pork Belly To Dry Above Neighbour's Laundry
The tenant promised to never repeat her actions again.
The tenant responsible for hanging pieces of marinated pork to dry above her neighbour's laundry has come forward to apologise for her actions
According to an interview with 8world, the tenant said that she was preparing the pork for Chinese New Year celebrations.
As she was staying on the fifth floor of a Housing & Development Board (HDB) flat in Bukit Batok, Singapore, she said that she wanted to take advantage of the sun to dry the meat.
"Chinese New Year is happening soon, and I thought of making pork belly, so I marinated the pork belly and left it outside to dry," the tenant told reporters.
She admitted that she did not know residents of HDB flats were not allowed to hang objects on poles extending out of their units
Although she has been living at the HDB estate for a decade now, she did not realise that it would pose a possible danger to the public.
The tenant has since taken the pieces of pork into her unit and promised to not repeat the issue.
The Singapore HDB encourages residents not to place objects around their homes in hazardous manners
According to the official HDB website, objects that are not allowed to be placed on poles are household objects, flower pots, and laundry.
Residents who do not abide by the rules will receive a written notice. If the resident chooses to ignore the warning, legal action will be taken against them.
If convicted, they might face a fine of up to SGD2,000 (RM6,526). If the resident continues to commit the offence, a fine of SGD100 (RM326) per day would be added.
