The Group Of Boys Who Harassed An Elderly Woman Walking Alone At Night Have Been Arrested
The victim, who is a single mother, said that the teenagers often harassed her and now it feels traumatic to go out alone.
Police have arrested four teenagers who had harassed an elderly woman in the middle of a night in Kelantan after they surrendered at the Bachok District Police Headquarters on Friday, 2 October
According to Bachok District Police Chief DSP Samsulmuddin Sulaiman, the four teenagers, aged between 15 and 18, will be remanded at the Pasir Puteh Court in Bachok, Kosmo Online reported.
Two of them, aged 16 and 18, who harassed the victim were arrested when they surrendered at 2.30pm, while the other two, aged 15 and 18, who made the video recording, were arrested three hours later.
In the incident, which happened on Wednesday night, 30 September and was filmed, the elderly woman, aged 67, claimed that she suffered bruises in the arm after she was kicked by two of the teenagers
The victim, Wan Bidah Wan Deraman, said that she is a single mother.
According to her, the incident happened at about 9pm when she was on her way home alone.
She said she was approached by the a group of teenagers who tried to kick her.
"I shouted as loudly as I could so that they would not kick me for fear of blindness," she said, adding that the boys, however, became more aggressive and pelted her with stones, which hit her left arm.
"I then tried to hit the group using an umbrella before managing to escape. I was often harassed by the same group and now it is traumatic to go out alone," she added.
Fearing for her safety, she had lodged a police report on Friday.
