[VIDEO] Malaysians Almost Caused A Riot At The Yeezy Sneaker Raffle In Pavilion KL
Everyone is going crazy for a pair of Yeezys.
Famous rapper and recent Trump supporter Kanye West is set to drop his latest line of Yeezy Boost 350 V2 sneakers this Wednesday, 23 November in selected adidas outlets and sneaker shops in Klang Valley
West's Yeezy label carries a range of footwear but his collaborations with adidas tend to generate elevated excitement.
Due to extremely limited quantities of the release, raffle tickets were given out to interested buyers today, 21 November and only a selected few stand a chance to purchase the sneakers on release day.
The sneakers will be sold at RM990.00 per pair.
With the hype surrounding the release, sneakerheads camped eagerly outside of various outlet in hopes of getting a raffle ticket
The adidas store in Pavilion KL drew a large crowd. To accommodate the huge turnout, the sportswear brand held the raffle in an open space.
That's where things went south really, really fast.
A video uploaded by Facebook user Wyss Wong shows the chaos during the raffle which was held this morning near the fountain area at the entrance of Pavillion KL.
Eager buyers could be seen forcing their way through the security barricade, allowing a sea of people into the raffle registration table, nearly causing a riot.
adidas staff were clearly outnumbered and had a hard time managing the massive crowd.
Ever since West moved from Nike to adidas in 2013, the kicks have been highly coveted by many worldwide. They are known to sell out within seconds upon release and the resell prices could go up to RM4,000 per pair.
Many actually buy the sneakers not to wear them, but to sell them to eager buyers at exorbitant prices.
We hope it was all worth it, guys. Kanye is certainly happy that his sneakers are selling out.
