SRG Wins Historic Two-Peat, DPM Zahid Makes Surprise Appearance During MPL Malaysia
Selangor Red Giants are now looking to secure the M6 World Championship to complete their "Golden Road".
Selangor Red Giants (SRG) defeated Team Vamos 4-2 in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia Season 14 Grand Finals in Johor last night, 3 November, becoming the first team to win back-to-back MPL Malaysia titles
The history-makers previously secured Malaysia's first international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Esports title in July at the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) in Saudi Arabia.
SRG will continue their quest for the Golden Road — the feat of winning all MLBB Esports events in a single year. These events are MSC 2024, MPL Malaysia Season 14, and the M6 World Championship.
Both SRG and Team Vamos have qualified for the M6 Main Stage, which takes place from 28 November, where they will compete for the USD1 million (RM4.3 million) prize.

- "Arcadia" - Angelo Bocado (Coach)
- "OzoraVeki" - Poon Kok Sing (Assistant Coach)
Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi reiterated the government's support for the esports industry and expressed hopes that more will be done to continue its growth
In a press conference, Zahid applauded Malaysia's recent allocation of RM20 million in the Madani Budget 2025 to enhance the esports ecosystem. He revealed that RM10 million will be used to develop an esports stadium, with the remaining funds allocated to training and other esports-related activities.
He also praised the Sarawak government's plans to build its own esports stadium, and to integrate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) into hafiz secondary schools throughout the state, which will include a course on content creation and match reporting.
Zahid highlighted the importance of creators, anticipating that "in the future, content creators will be key to providing more success in this industry".Youth and Sports Deputy Minister Adam Adli also shared his well-wishes with SRG and Team Vamos.
"I hope that this success in MPL Malaysia will snowball to M6, not just in terms of team performance but support from overall fans," Adam said.
MPL Malaysia set a record as the most-watched Malaysian esports event of all time, reaching 812,911 peak concurrent viewers (PCV) during the Season 14 Grand Finals
The previous national record was 610,943 PCV, set by MPL Malaysia Season 13.
MPL recently became the first esports event series to surpass one billion hours of watch time globally, according to Esports Charts.
