Chinese video game developer Moonton has added a major accolade to its achievements as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang won the Mobile Esports Game of the Year award at the Esports Awards 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Developed by Moonton, the popular multiplayer online battle arena game triumphed over tough competitors like Pokémon Unite, Free Fire, and PUBG Mobile. Winners in each category were determined by fan votes and expert insights, recognising the achievements of esports creators, games, publishers, and creative teams.

Along with securing the Mobile Game of the Year award, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was also a finalist for the Esports Game of the Year category.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang clinched this title for the second consecutive year, having also won in 2023

The award wraps up a year of exceptional MLBB esports events.

The first-ever Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh recently concluded, with the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 standing out as the most popular title in the series, attracting 2,382,990 Peak Concurrent Viewers (PCV), according to Esports Charts.

Additionally, the MLBB Women's Invitational (MWI) 2024 was the only women's tournament featured at the EWC, boasting a USD500,000 (RM2,176,00) prize pool, the largest in women's esports.

Moonton was elated to receive the highly prestigious award

Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at Moonton Games, expressed his joy over the award.

"It's really an honour to be here. On behalf of Moonton Games and MLBB, I'd like to thank our community, esports teams, organisers, and partners who believe in what we're building. Without you, there would be no MLBB Esports. We continue to build an open ecosystem that is diverse, inclusive, and competitive to bring the best experience for our players and fans around the world," he said during his acceptance speech.

"But we do not stop here. We have a slew of exciting esports events taking place in the second half of this calendar year, such as the M6 World Championship, our flagship international MLBB Esports tournament, and the third edition of the M Summit, our annual closed-door industry conference, in Malaysia. Please continue to support us as we strive to deliver even bigger, better things. Onwards and upwards!" he added.
