Threads Will Soon Let You Pick Your Default Feed
The feature is still being tested.
After more than a year of user requests, Threads is testing a long-overdue feature: the ability to set your default feed
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the update on Threads, letting users choose between the algorithm-driven For You feed, the chronological Following feed, or any custom feed they've created.
The feature is still being tested, but Meta promises to make feeds more prominent and easier to navigate within the app.
As of the time of writing, only selected users have been allowed to test the feature.
If you're part of the test group, setting your default feed is simple
- Step 1: Tap and hold on any feed at the top of the app
- Step 2: Select "edit feeds" and reorder them
The feed placed in the first slot will be your default view when you open Threads.
This change comes as Threads faces mounting competition from platforms like Bluesky, prompting other updates as well
Meta recently revamped the For You algorithm to prioritise followed accounts over suggested ones, improved search functionality, and introduced landscape video support.
Competition is driving Threads to address long-standing frustrations.
While this test isn't available to everyone yet, it's a step in the right direction for a platform eager to win back attention.
