Malaysian TikToker Has Emotional Reunion With Her Mother After Being Apart For 4 Years
According to the content creator, lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from visiting each other.
The saying often goes that no matter how old we get, we'll always be our parents' babies In one very special clip, a mother and daughter duo just showed just how true that thought really is.
A recent Instagram Reel has been making waves on the Internet, depicting mother and daughter reuniting for the first time after not seeing each other physically in four years.
Posted by digital creator and TikToker Ash Edward (@ashyy_edward), the feature begins with Ash driving to the airport to pick up her mother.
"I'm shaking," she said as she waited.
As the airport gates open, Ash breaks down upon seeing her mother. Giving each other a big hug, the duo embrace each other and have a tear-filled reunion.

In a brief conversation with SAYS, the content creator revealed that the last time she saw her mother was in February 2019
"My mom is permanently based in Sydney. She initially moved there for work and is now a citizen there. Pre-pandemic, I would usually spend a couple months here and a couple of months in Sydney — back and forth," described Ash to this SAYS writer.
"Her last visit before this was in February 2019, and then the lockdown began in 2020 — so there was no way of flying down or vice versa. Therefore, after four years, she was able to come back in February 2023, and it's been the best thing ever," she added.
According to the content creator, the skyrocketing prices of flight tickets and extensive amount of paperwork required to allow them to travel during the lockdown made it very difficult for either person to travel across borders. However, Ash described that finally seeing her mother after four long years was very emotional, and the best time in her life.
"My mom is my best friend, my soulmate. We never ever go a day without talking, texting, or FaceTiming. Of course we have our differences and arguments, but we are still each other's number one. She is my everything," said Ash.
