A restaurant in Bukit Raja, Klang is gaining attention on social media for its kind pay-it-forward initiative that gives free meals to the needy

The kopitiam, Choon Guan Hainan Coffee 1956, has set up a simple system for anyone who finds themselves unable to afford a meal.

A sign at the restaurant reads: "If you are hungry and have no money, these meals have been paid for in advance."

Below the sign are receipts marked "Sudah bayar (already paid)" for a variety of meals served at the coffeeshop, including Nasi Goreng Hailam, Nasi Lemak Ayam Rendang, and coffee or tea. Those in need can simply take one of the receipts and claim it at the cashier to get a free meal.

In the Klang community group, owner David Kan Yew Weng wrote, "We understand that sometimes life can be challenging. We are here to support our community, because nobody should go hungry."

Meanwhile, the kopitiam has also posted about the initiative publicly on Instagram, which it said is kept alive by its generous customers who chip in to the effort.

"At Choon Guan 1956, we believe in the power of kindness and community.

"Let's continue to pay it forward and support each other through small acts of kindness," it said.

The photo of the sign and the taped receipts have since gone viral, with many netizens praising the restaurant and the public for supporting the initiative
