Teenager Hospitalised After Eating Biscuits Laced With Poison At Banana Plantation

A 13-year-old boy reportedly fainted after consuming biscuits laced with poison at a banana plantation in Kampung Dadong, Chukai, Terengganu

According to Buletin TV3, Mohd Daynail Haikal Alias reportedly ate the poisoned biscuits at 1.45pm on Saturday, 13 July.

He was rushed to Air Puteh Health Clinic before being transferred to Kemaman Hospital for further treatment.

The victim's 57-year-old father, Alias ​​Saras, confirmed the matter with Berita Harian.

Mohd Daynail is the fourth of five siblings.

His wife, Roslina Ahmad, 52, informed him that his son fainted after eating the poisoned food.

"Thankfully, my son is recovering... I hope he recovers quickly and is released from the hospital," he said.

Alias revealed that his son was on a fishing trip with a friend before the incident

He said Mohd Daynail may have obtained the biscuits from a banana and coconut plantation about 3km from their home.

"The poisoned food may have been hung on a stick to drive away monkeys from the plantation," the father said.

Kemaman district police chief Supt Hanyan Ramlan confirmed receiving a police report regarding the incident at 4pm yesterday, 14 July.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Children Act 2001, which deals with child neglect, reported Buletin TV3.

In a similar incident last week, two boys died after ingesting snacks laced with rat poison found on an orchard fence in Labu Besar, Kedah.

Three-year-old Muhammad Akil Syauqi Abdul Rahman died last Wednesday, 10 July, two days after consuming the poisoned snacks, while his 2-year-old brother, Muhammad Luth, succumbed to the poisoning after spending four days in the hospital.
