Fans Of K-Pop Rapper B.I. React To Hilarious Reason Why He Doesn't Want To Try Nasi Lemak
Never mess with nasi lemak.
Korean rapper B.I. will be performing in Kuala Lumpur on 30 June, and naturally, he's curious about the local cuisine
B.I., whose real name is Kim Hanbin, recently hosted a livestream on the K-pop fan app Bubble on 14 June.
One fan asked him which local dishes he would like to try while he's visiting Malaysia.
"I'm not familiar with the local cuisines [in Malaysia], so let's look it up," the rapper said.
Then, he began reading aloud from a list of must-try dishes, including nasi campur (or as B.I. pronounced it, "nashi campureu"), roti canai, satay, apam balik, and more.
However, things took a hilarious turn when he came across the quintessential Malaysian dish: nasi lemak.
The rapper even thought it sounded delicious just from its name.
Reading up about the ingredients in our beloved dish, his enthusiasm quickly waned when he learnt that nasi lemak contains coconut milk
According to @bbiya131, who provided the translations for this portion of the livestream, the rapper said "보류" (bo ryu), which literally translates to "put it on the shelf to be handled later".
So to be clear, he didn't "cancel" nasi lemak; simply said "no, thanks" to nasi lemak.
What do you have against coconut milk, Hanbin?
Because this is the face of someone who's disgusted.
As he scrolled through the list of Malaysian dishes, he also mentioned more local favourites such as nasi goreng, mee goreng, and laksa, with the latter sparking the most enthusiasm from him.
The rapper's comical dismissal of nasi lemak had fans laughing, but also springing to the dish's defence
"Don't cancel nasi lemak! Try it first, you'll like it for sure!" an amused fan commented.
"The way he wanted to try nasi lemak but didn't want to because it has coconut milk in it," said a fan, who caught on to the rapper's hesitance.
They were also excited to prepare some laksa for B.I. to try.
"I'll make laksa super delicious for you. I'll even pack it up for you!"
"On the way to learn how to make laksa," another enthusiastic fan said.
The question now is, what type of laksa has piqued B.I.'s interest?
There's Penang Asam Laksa, Nyonya Laksa, Johor Laksa, Sarawak Laksa, Curry Laksa, Laksam, and more, so he'll be spoiled for choice!
