Couple Throw 'Crazy Rich Asians' Themed Wedding In Singapore & The Outcome Is Beautiful
A fairytale come to life!
Five years after the global phenomenon hit our screens, Crazy Rich Asians (2018) has continued to inspire the minds of Asians all across the world
Recently, a couple from the Philippines planned their wedding in an almost identical fashion to the dynamic nuptials of characters Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee from Crazy Rich Asians (2018).
In a TikTok video that has since taken the platform by storm, the sister of the bride, Mary Golez, shared a clip from the wedding festivities that took place at Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, particularly the section that was facing the Marina Bay Sands hotel.
From a red carpet adorned with the signature blue and gold backdrop from the film to the illuminated lights of Marina Bay Sands and the Gardens, the evening was filled with vibrant energy. A mesmerising lion dance and a captivating performance by professional rhythmic dancers added to the joyous celebration of JM and Abbie Caram's marriage.
Elaborate yet mystical, the magical festivities were attended by a sea of the couple's closest family and friends.
Aside from the reception, the wedding ceremony itself had beautiful features that resembled the nuptials from Crazy Rich Asians (2018), including a beautiful flower arch and bouquets that lined the aisle
Other than the lion dance and rhythmic dancers, JM and Abbie also had a professional painter and live band to liven the festivities in the evening.
Receiving over 700,000 views and 100,000 likes at the time of writing, many people were fascinated and in awe by the entire wedding
In a brief conversation with SAYS, Golez stated that Crazy Rich Asians (2018) also happens to be her family's comfort movie
However, Golez also stated that while the wedding wasn't entirely inspired by the movie at first, her sister's vision ended up pushing through due to the venue.
She was also forthright in describing how the colour palette, concept, and flowers from the movie really inspired her sister to turn her dream wedding into a reality at Gardens by the Bay.
"The movie also feels relatable in terms of family traditions and customs being tested amongst each other, especially when involving cousins, relatives, uncles, and aunties in a huge social environment," said Golez in a conversation with this SAYS writer.
Congratulations JM and Abbie! May your married life be as magical as your wedding.
