A man in Penang became an instant multimillionaire after winning RM95 million in Toto prize — the largest ever lottery jackpot in Malaysian history!

Sports Toto Malaysia (STM), in a statement, said the 41-year-old Penangite had not been able to sleep well for two straight nights when he found out he was the winner.

He took home the larger portion of RM95,036,321.25 and an additional bonus of RM173,152.00.

The man, who is a machinery supplier, said he only started to play the Supreme Toto 6/58 when the jackpot hit RM70 million.

"Because of the social media hype, all of my friends were talking about it, so I thought I should also try my luck," he was quoted as saying.

He said his set of lucky numbers were: 5, 12, 20, 22, 29, and 49, which were the numbers he used to bet with for the last few draws. The combination, he added, was inspired from the ages and birth dates of his family members.

STM said the winner, only known as Ah Ling, requested the winnings to come in two cheques so that he could split the money with his wife

The Facebook post said a "big amount" would be shared with the winner's wife, but it didn't say exactly how much.

STM also said that the couple were in disbelief when they found out the man hit the jackpot.

"We had to literally slap each other to make sure that we were not dreaming," he was quoted as saying, adding that he was still unable to accept the fact that he is now a multimillionaire.

Besides splitting the money with his wife, Ah Ling also plans to pay off his debts and donate to charity

He will think of ways to use the remaining wealth afterwards.

The jackpot was drawn and announced on 30 March.

Another winner took home a smaller prize of RM2,715,322.65 and an additional bonus of RM12,289.20.
