1. Lunabar Coffee

Surrounded by greenery, this beautiful cafe in Penang has a peaceful setting that's the perfect hideout from the busyness of George Town. Coffee is said to be particularly exceptional here. There's no signboard, so just look for the house with lots of plants. ;)

2. Narrow Marrow

This cafe has a unique, artsy interior that's both cosy and old school. Tiramisu is a popular choice here. Some might even say that it's one of the best in Penang. Customers also rave about their toddy.

3. PACE Coffee

Adorned with a gorgeous white and rattan interior, PACE Coffee is a new breakfast and brunch spot in George Town that just opened in March this year.

They offer coconut americanos —coffee mixed with coconut water — which is said to make the coffee taste less bitter. They also offer Iberico pork carbonara and ice honeycomb latte that are worth trying.

4. Norm Micro Roastery

This old factory building was revamped into a spacious, industrial cafe with high ceilings and a concrete interior with hints of greenery. 

Norm Micro Roastery 
has meals such as barley and mushroom stew, prawn and pumpkin risotto, along with other noteworthy dishes.

It also has a separate adorable cafe called Norm that you should check out at Georgetown's UNESCO World Heritage Site.

5. The Alley

Known for its churros (which comes with different dippings!) and cheesecakes, The Alley is a quaint cafe that prides itself on serving great coffee. It's small yet cosy for a chill hangout with your friends.

6. CAN by Haru Hari • Project CAN

This cute caravan cafe has gained quite a bit of attention since it opened not too long ago. Located along the Greenlane main road, baristas can be seen making drinks inside the caravan. They have an outdoor seating area beneath shady trees as well as an indoor seating area.

7. Macallum Connoisseurs Coffee Company

Macallum Connoisseurs is a roastery, cafe, restaurant, and academy all under one roof. This spacious, concrete NY-style coffeehouse is located next to the highway right in the heart of George Town. A good place to chill, especially if you're travelling in a group.

8. Unknown Café & Bistro

UNKNOWN, which just opened this year, is a cafe by day and a bistro by night, serving everything from all-day breakfasts and brunches, to alcoholic beverages at night. They recently added a new item to their menu: spiced chai latte. Yum.

9. De Antique

De Antique gives off similar vibes to those tiny, cosy cafes you might spot along alleys in Japan. The cafe combines wooden and concrete textures with ample natural light streaming in through its large glass windows. A picturesque spot to visit!

10. TEMU

Temu is a new Instagrammable cafe in town that serves a variety of yummy desserts, including croffle (croissant + waffle), tiramisu, and burnt banana waffles.

The cafe's interior gives off an industrial feel with its steel chairs, as well as concrete walls with creeping vines along them. A pretty, aesthetic place to take a breather at while exploring Penang.

11. Bean Sprout Café

Located inside an old heritage building, Bean Sprout enhanced its interior yet kept a lot of the beauty of the building itself. It has a balcony section where you can people-watch over a meal or coffee and dessert. You'll also find little nooks in this cafe for some solo downtime.

12. Chapel Street Cafe

13. Ome by Spacebar Coffee

Believed to be built with bricks that came all the way from India, Ome by Spacebar Coffee shares that these types of bricks are no longer made like they used to be back in the day.

The cafe is located on one of Penang's narrow alleys, giving off a charming, laidback feel with its cosy interior. It's definitely one spot worth visiting, especially for coffee and their freshly, baked cakes.

14. Constant Gardener Coffee

15. Fuku Eatery and Desserts

Fuku Eatery and Desserts is a pretty spot serving not just coffee but a variety of Japanese food including curry katsu don, chicken karaage, and desserts like kakigori.

The cafe also doubles up as a lifestyle store selling locally-made notebooks, games, tea, and such. It's such a pretty place to chill at, you won't wanna leave!

16. The Coffee Cottage

As its name states, this little cottage in Penang opened not too long ago and every corner of it is worth a mini photoshoot!

The space is filled with lots of knick-knacks and rustic furniture. Several customers recommend visiting in the evening or at night for a cooler experience, as the place is open-air and does not have air-conditioning.

17. KAFKA Coffee

Kafka has two outlets in Penang that do more than just coffee and breakfast. They also offer lunches, dinners, and light snacks.

Their outlet at Kelawai is a glass building with a mix of a modern, industrial interior and a touch of greenery. While the Victoria outlet is slightly more hidden with an eclectic feel and lots of nostalgic collectibles, similar to an old garage.

18. Wheeler's

Wheeler's is located on one of Penang's more popular streets, Love Lane. They serve everything from truffle spaghetti carbonara to tom yam pasta and pizzas. They also offer desserts and alcoholic beverages for you to cool off with, especially on a hot day.

19. Hey JoJo

Hey Jojo is a new Korean-themed cafe nestled in Nibong Tebal, which recently opened in March. Their menu includes creamy clams, tom yam pasta, along with French toast, which is particularly raved about by several customers. Also, try out their signature watermelon cake for a refreshing dessert.

20. KaraKara からから

KaraKara からから
 is a new futuristic cafe in George Town that transforms into a bar at night. They have desserts such as onde onde cake, Niko Neko matcha s'more cookies, and more. At night, the place lights up as they serve a variety of cocktails and drinks.

21. ZEN 161 Coffee & Patisserie

Formerly known as Gayo Coffee, ZEN 161 is a cafe that just opened a couple of months ago. They serve their own baked cakes and pastries, along with meals. The space itself has a modern feel to it, with marble-like tables and a comfortable interior for families.
