The King has granted all 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) members of parliament (MPs) an audience at 10.30am today, 23 November

According to a statement released by the Istana Negara, this is so that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (YDPA) Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah can choose who will be the 10th Prime Minister.

"His Majesty urges and advises Malaysians to be patient and calm until the process of forming a new government and naming the 10th Prime Minister is completed," said the Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in the statement yesterday, 22 November.

"His Majesty also requests that Malaysians pray for the smooth conduct of this process for the sake of our beloved nation."

However, BN leaders said they will need more time before facing the Yang di-Pertuan Agong

Sabah Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin said the coalition was in a "cooling period" and have yet to make a decision, reported New Straits Times.

"This is why we are requesting that the palace postpone the meeting with the YDPA," he explained.

Meanwhile, MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon stated that BN is sticking to its decision made yesterday, 22 November, that its supreme council will not support any coalition to form the federal government.

"As a result, it is up to the chairman (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) to inform the King," he said.

He added that the coalition has requested a postponement from the King.

Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah deputy president Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, who agreed with Bung, said the coalition will issue a statement asking for more time before seeking an audience with the King

Arthur said that BN will make its decision after the negotiations are completed.

"We will seek more time to meet with the King and will issue a statement on it," he said.

At the same time, MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan stated that BN has requested that the audience with the King be postponed because the party needs time to make a decision.

"Before making any decisions, we need to thoroughly investigate a few issues," said Saravanan.
