From Wednesday, 18 March until 31 March, Malaysians will not be allowed to travel to Singapore

Immigration director-general Khairul Dzaimee Daud confirmed this in a statement reported by Malaysiakini today, 17 March.

The move comes following a statement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who recently announced that Malaysia is under a restricted movement order for the next two weeks to tackle the nation's COVID-19 outbreak.

If you're a Malaysian who needs to travel to and from Singapore for work or studies, the government in Singapore has offered several solutions during this period

Singapore's Ministry of Manpower released a statement today, 17 March, encouraging affected staff to temporarily stay with friends, colleagues, or relatives in Singapore during this short time.

If employees have no one to stay with, the local government suggests for them to stay at:

-  Hotels, hostels, or dormitories on this list or
-  Contact them for housing by filling in this form.

Companies have also been advised to be sure if they really need affected staff to remain in Singapore.

If they do, the government will financially assist these companies to accommodate their staff.

Affected companies will receive an allowance of SGD50 (RM152) per employee for 14 nights to cover extra costs, CNA reported today, 17 March.
