Bungkus Kaw Kaw Is Now Halal-Certified
This comes after the brand faced scrutiny in September for not having halal certification.
Bungkus Kaw Kaw has announced that it is officially halal-certified
In a press release today, 5 December, the local food and beverage (F&B) chain shared its pride in receiving halal certification from the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (JAKIM), marking a significant milestone for the brand.
"Bungkus Kaw Kaw aims to meet the diverse needs of Muslims by offering halal-certified authentic Malaysian favourite food and drinks.
"This step is taken to create an environment of trust, inclusivity, and culinary excellence for all," the statement read.
The brand emphasised that the certification serves as a crucial indicator of trust for Muslim diners.
It also revealed that the F&B chain adhered rigorously to specific standards and guidelines, dedicating significant time and resources to meet these requirements.
"This commitment reflects the restaurant's dedication to upholding the integrity of halal food," it added.
In early September, the brand came under scrutiny after JAKIM confirmed that it was one of the five popular restaurant chains that were not halal-certified
The news surprised many, as the F&B chain operates over 60 outlets in major shopping malls across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Negeri Sembilan.
In response to the issue, Bungkus Kaw Kaw explained that it shared the same central kitchen as Ah Cheng Laksa, which is halal-certified. The brand also stated its commitment to securing halal certification for its outlets by the end of the year.
