Perlis Man Arrested For Spraying Pesticide In Baby's Face To Stop Him From Crying
A man in Arau, Perlis, has been detained by the police for alleged child abuse
Police were alerted by a doctor who found that the baby was suffering from abnormal injuries
The two-month-old obtained injuries to the back of his head and neck while red spots were found on his head.
Arau District Police chief Supt Nanda Ma'arof told Astro Awani, "Police received a report from a doctor at the Maternity and Children's Division of the Arau Health Clinic at 11.30am on Friday after finding out that the baby was inactive and his lips had turned blue."
The child's mother was questioned and she claimed that her husband sprayed pesticide on the baby's face to keep him quiet
Police also discovered that the suspect slapped and threw the baby on the day he was detained, as reported by The Star.
The child is currently undergoing further tests at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 and the suspect will be remanded until June 25.
If found guilty, the man could be charged with a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 20 years or both.
