A tiny packet of fried instant noodles bought for RM1 by a primary school student has sparked discussion online, with many questioning whether the portion was worth the price
A Threads user recently shared a photo of the noodles, which he said his son bought after school.
The noodles came in a small zip-lock bag with a plastic skewer, prompting the father to reminisce about how fried noodles were also sold in plastic bags when he was younger.
"Fried noodles in a plastic bag have evolved. They're getting smaller, but now they come with a little skewer. Back in the day, we'd bite a hole at the bottom and suck the noodles out little by little," he said on Threads.
He later double-checked with his son that he had not taken a bite before getting into the car. According to the father, the noodles were also bought from a shop just outside his son's school, rather than the school canteen.

In the comments section, some netizens also reminisced about eating noodles from plastic packets, while others questioned the small portion
The post brought back memories for some commenters who grew up eating cheap noodles and other snacks sold in plastic bags.
"Ahh, mi goreng plastik from my sekolah agama days were so delicious. There were many nice and cheap ones. But ya, this one is quite expensive at RM1," one person wrote.
"Aww, this reminds me of eating laksa with a straw. I miss it," another said.
But others felt that the portion shown in the photo was far too small for RM1.
"This should only be 20 sen," one commenter said.
"RM1 for one bite????" another asked.
"Is this what people call inflation?" someone else quipped.
Others also questioned why the noodles appeared to be plain, with some saying they looked like they had only been stir-fried with soy sauce and contained no protein
Meanwhile, another commenter shared that a shop outside their child's school offered much more generous portions for the same price.
"You can buy laksa for RM1 outside my child's school. There's also RM1 bihun soup. I was craving laksa, and that was enough to fill me up," they wrote.
