PDRM Officer Allegedly Rapes A 16-Year-Old Rape Victim
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, who declined to reveal anything about the case, has confirmed that the police inspector has since been detained.
Last week, a police inspector allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl in his office at a district police headquarters near Alor Setar, Kedah.
The teenage victim was at the police station to give her statement against her stepfather, who had allegedly raped her earlier.
The 30-year-old inspector raped her during questioning at around 6.30pm on Wednesday, 28 December.
He told her that he wanted to examine her private parts, supposedly as part of the investigation process.
According to sources, the officer first told the victim to spread her legs and then asked the girl to lie naked on a bed in the room, following which, he proceeded to rape her, reported New Straits Times.
"Despite being afraid, the victim could not do anything," one of the sources was quoted as saying.
After almost 30 minutes, he told the victim to put on her clothes but not before informing her that the investigation into her first rape claims was still ongoing and asked her to return for investigation.
On Saturday, 31 December, the girl then lodged a report on the second rape.
Following which, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officer was detained, according to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, who declined to comment further.
Stains believed to be semen were found on the bedsheet and pillowcases
The victim was taken to a hospital for a physical examination.
A forensics unit found traces of what is believed to be semen on the bedsheet and pillowcases at the inspector's office, while conducting investigations, reported Harian Metro yesterday, 2 January.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has assured that the case will be taken seriously and that no one is above the law
Speaking out over the 30-year-old inspector's actions, Azalina said that she views this case seriously and wishes to emphasise that there are specific procedures for handling child victims.
"This includes the Evidence of Child Witness Act 2007 and the Comprehensive Guidelines on Conducting Sexual Crime Cases Against Children. No one is above the law," she said in a tweet last night.
