Headmaster Fired For Pouring More Coffee Than He Paid For In A Japanese Convenience Store
He would purchase a regular, but fill a large.
A headmaster in Japan has been fired after being caught pouring himself more coffee than he paid for at a local convenience store
The unnamed headmaster admitted to paying 110 yen (RM3.50) for the regular cup, then pouring himself the larger 180 yen (RM5.70) option, starting from June, according to reports by Yomiuri TV.
In December, a vigilant store clerk caught him in the act and called the police as the headmaster tried to leave.
The headmaster later admitted that the first time he poured a large coffee into his regular cup, it was an accident. He would go on to pour extra coffee for himself at the self-service machine seven times that year, knowing that it was wrong.
The 59-year-old male, who remained unnamed, was consequently dismissed from his job by the Board of Education on 30 January
The board stated that his behaviour was "gross misconduct unbecoming of an educational public servant", and went on to apologise for the incident.
The headmaster also released a statement through the board, apologising to students and families for failing to lead by example and encourage discipline.
Local prosecutors decided not to press charges.
