#Budget2024: RM450 Million Allocated To Maintain & Promote Tourism Activities

Tourist attractions such as buildings and heritage sites will be maintained for beauty, safety, and cleanliness.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a total of RM100 million to be provided for the benefit of governments to maintain and conserve tourist attraction locations

RM20 million will be allocated to these tourist attractions, including Tasik Timah Tasoh in Perlis, Kenong Rimba Park in Pahang, and Teluk Kemang Beach in Negeri Sembilan. A portion of this budget will also be allocated to the urban rejuvenation organisation, Think City, to establish Kuala Lumpur as a creative and cultural city.

The remaining RM80 million will be spent on preserving heritage buildings and sites that have the potential to be recognised by UNESCO, such as Niah Cave, Sarawak; Bujang Valley, Kedah; and Royal Belum, Perak.

In addition, the government will be allocating RM350 million to promote tourism activities in Malaysia in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026

The government aims to attract 26.1 million foreign tourists, with a domestic spend of up to RM97.6 billion. It aims to focus on niche tourism markets including ecotourism, scuba diving, golf, weddings, and medical tourism.

These activities and promotions include:
– Organising Visit Malaysia 2026 promotional campaigns
– Cooperating with the travel industry in promotional activities and the organisation of domestic and foreign tourism events
– Providing assistance to more than 200 cultural activists in organising art and cultural activities
– Matching grants for private chartered flight operators that increase international air connectivity into Malaysia
– Providing a grant to Islamic Tourism Centre to boost Muslim-friendly tourism activities
