S'porean Dad Pleads Guilty To Incest After Excusing The Crime As "Education"

A Singaporean man has pleaded guilty to committing incest on his intellectually disabled daughter and telling her it was a 'sex lesson'
The 60-year-old man pleaded guilty to two counts of incest while two other similar charges were taken into account yesterday, 7 December.
The victim was between the ages of 24 and 25 at the time of the sexual assault. The offender was between the ages of 57 and 58.
The woman is said to be epileptic and intellectually disabled. She also worked as a volunteer for MINDS, a nonprofit organisation that provides services to people with intellectual disabilities.
Born out of wedlock and raised by her maternal grandmother, deputy public prosecutor Yvonne Poon was reported as saying by The Straits Times that the victim met her father for the first time in 2008, when she was 14 years old.
Due to a gag order to protect the victim's identity, the father and his 28-year-old daughter cannot be named.
The victim only met her father once every two years between 2008 and 2014 before she started living with him
The father reportedly started sexually assaulting her in February 2019, some time around Chinese New Year, telling her that it was for "sexual education".
"He did this under the pretext of educating her sexually so that she would not get pregnant by other men," said Poon.
Following this occurrence, the man asked his daughter to perform sex acts on him at least four times.
It started with him scolding her for unnecessary reasons, such as unintentionally breaking a weight set while exercising or bringing a used mask back home that was found outside.
As an apology and to subdue his anger, she was forced to engage in sexual activities with him.
All the offences happened when the mother went out to work, and the victim was told not to tell anyone about the acts.

The victim told her MINDS training officer about the sexual assault and lodged a police report on 6 April 2020.
She was taken to a home for people with disabilities, where she is currently staying.
The charges, under Section 74A(2) of the Penal Code, provides for an additional penalty when an offence is committed against a vulnerable person, such as the victim in this case.
Poon deemed it particularly wicked that the accused incorporated sexual actions into his role as a parent and a source of discipline. She sought a sentence of seven to eight years' imprisonment.
Defence lawyer Joshua Tong of Kalco Law disagreed with this point. The scolding and sexual activities occurring simultaneously, he claimed, was "happenstance" and that there was no proof of force.
Principal District Judge Toh Han Li said he needed to take some time to consider his decision and adjourned the sentencing to 23 December.
