19-Year-Old UPNM Student Suffers Rib Fractures After Allegedly Being Stomped On
The first-year student was allegedly assaulted by a third-year cadet at the university.
Police are investigating an incident involving a first-year student at the National Defence University (UPNM), who was allegedly assaulted by a senior cadet
According to a statement by the Kuala Lumpur police on Sunday, 10 November, the incident occurred at 10.45pm on 21 October, following a roll call near the marching ground of their campus in Sungai Besi.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the police received a report of the 19-year-old male victim suffering fractures to his ribs and spine as a result of being stomped on by a third-year cadet at the university.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital for his injuries.
According to Bernama, the incident was brought to light on X, with a woman claiming that her brother was stomped on until his ribs were fractured.
The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt
The section provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, in addition to a fine.
The police have advised the public not to speculate on the matter until the investigation is completed.
