A heartbreaking incident has shaken a family after an elderly father in Klang fell victim to a robbery, losing RM45,500 in the process

Tammy Lim, the victim's daughter, detailed the incident in an Instagram post yesterday, 15 December.

Her elderly father, who was driving a blue Proton Iriz, was targeted after leaving a mall in Klang on Friday, 13 December, between 2pm and 3.30pm.

She shared that he had gone to pay his telco bills when a man followed him to the car park and entered his vehicle.

The suspect, described as a Chinese man in his 50s with black hair, wearing a white shirt and black pants, spoke both Mandarin and English.

The robber instructed her father to drive to a nearby fast-food outlet, where he took his credit card and phone.

Within an hour, the suspect made 27 bank withdrawals, draining RM45,500 from the victim's accounts

Lim explained that the robbery appeared to be well-planned, as her father was unable to contact anyone or the bank for help because his phone had been taken away.

Fortunately, the victim unknowingly ended up in front of his other daughter's office, where she found him. She immediately contacted all of his banks and took him to the police station.

The family is now asking the public for help, specifically anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, to assist in identifying the suspect

"Anyone with CCTV/dashcam footage between 2pm and 3.30pm at these locations, will be helpful for the investigation," she wrote.

Lim also expressed concern about how easily elderly individuals, like her father in his 70s, are targeted in such crimes. The incident has left the family deeply shaken as they work to recover from the traumatic experience.

She urged the public to remind their parents or elderly relatives to remain vigilant, as they are often easy targets for robbers, scammers, and kidnappers.
