"Hi I'm from Selangor, Micronesia."
Brady Kelly has been at the frontlines of creating educational content for audiences with the help of social media platforms, primarily TikTok and Instagram
Garnering massive attention online, Kelly has been able to accumulate over two million followers on TikTok and over 360,000 on Instagram. Some of his most entertaining pieces include videos where he tests members of the public on matters surrounding general knowledge and fun facts.
However, a recent TikTok created by Kelly has been going viral after he asked two strangers to guess the name of a country based on their flags. While the duo are able to guess the majority of the countries thrown their way, including Brazil, Norway, Mexico, India, and Canada, they are momentarily stumped when the Jalur Gemilang comes up.
After giving it a split-second thought, one of the men guess Micronesia incorrectly. Shortly after, the man beside him then guesses Malaysia, and gets a point for his answer.
The clip has since garnered over nine million views and 500,000 likes in just two weeks — with many Malaysians discovering it over time
A plethora of Malaysians roasted the man who accidentally mistook the Jalur Gemilang as the national flag for Micronesia, mostly trolling the comments with funny remarks, saying they were from Micronesia.
"Hello, I'm from Melaka, Micronesia," wrote one person, while others wrote similar sentiments for Pahang, Terengganu, Selangor, and more.
Completely unaware of the country, others just stated how they didn't know Micronesia existed until the man guessed it in the TikTok.
Nevertheless, others found the humour in the guess, as it was all in the fun of guessing the countries for each flag anyways — including a few who were from Micronesia themselves.
"As a Micronesian, I laughed my ass off when he said that," said one user.
For those who don't know, Micronesia is a country spread across the western Pacific Ocean, comprising of more than 600 islands.
