Recently, a video showing a six-year-old kid crying and pleading for his chickens who were being taken away for slaughter went viral

The boy from India's northeastern state of Sikkim is unable to come to terms with the sad realisation that the chickens he was raising with his family were meant for poultry production.

In the video, shot on a mobile and uploaded on the Facebook of The Voice of Sikkim last Sunday, 27 June, he is seen breaking down as his flocks were being taken away while begging his family to stop.

The over five-minute video shows the little boy crying, saying "chicken, bye-bye" and pleading, "I want my chicken back" after he is told that his chickens are being taken away to be eaten.

When asked if he feels sorry for them, the boy nods and says, "I think I'll miss the chickens."

The man filming the video and the little boy are both speaking in Nepali.

As the boy continues to cry while sitting on the street outside his home, the man tells him to get up.

The boy, when he sees his chickens being cramped inside the lorry, gets up screaming, "chicken, chicken, chicken" in Nepali

He goes closer to the lorry and asks the chickens, "what happened to you?"

And when the man filming the video tells the boy that all his chickens are being squeezed inside the lorry, the innocent boy — filled with sadness — urges the chickens to not stick out their tongues.

While his father tried to calm him down by saying that they will get him more chickens, social media users lauded him for his compassion

"This child has a golden heart. So full of compassion and love for the living beings, lessons to learn from the innocent little one! God bless him," wrote one netizen under the video.

"At this little age, he has so much compassion. Very pure," another netizen added.

While one wrote, "This little boy is an epitome of compassion. He'll grow up to become an empathetic human being. Bless your pure soul. This world needs you."

The comment section under the original video is filled with similar comments from hundreds of people.
