With the hype surrounding Taylor Swift, who's currently in Singapore for The Eras Tour, local news aggregator Lumi News took the opportunity to put Malaysian MPs to work, hehe! ;)

Check out this video of six local MPs reading the lyrics to one of Taylor's hit songs:

Despite their hectic parliament sessions, the MPs were sporting enough to recite Taylor Swift lyrics with as much conviction as possible

Among the MPs who hopped onto this Swiftie challenge were Yeo Bee Yin, Adam Adli, Wee Ka Siong, Lee Chean Chung, Syerleena Rashid, and Syed Saddiq.

The video captures snippets of their initial expressions, with Adam Adli being unfamiliar with the song and Yeo Bee Yin wide-eyed, asking if there was something more behind the unusual task.

It's not every day that you hear Wee Ka Siong say, "We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light." Nevertheless, the Ayer Hitam MP was fully committed β€” wanting to impress his wife and daughter, who are Swifties β€” enunciating every word carefully and with feeling.

On the other hand, Syed Saddiq had to compose himself at the end, admitting that he was a "forever loner." Kesian!

That's not all, the Lumi News team even gave out handmade friendship bracelets to the MPs for participating, aww! <3

In case you didn't know, friendship bracelets became a thing to wear to Taylor Swift concerts when her fans were inspired by lyrics from her song, You're on Your Own, Kid. You've probably seen your Swiftie friends make these bracelets with iconic Taylor Swift phrases or song names, or made them yourself!

The fun activity with the MPs was part of the Lumi Parliament video series, which is exclusively on the Lumi News app
