1. Lim Kee Cafe

Situated next to a boutique hotel is this small contemporary kopitiam that serves simple meals like half-boiled eggs and butter and kaya toast. The ambience is peaceful and laid-back with its rattan chairs and old school blinds - perfect if you're someone who appreciates nostalgia.

It also has soda-based mocktails and craft beers if you're craving a chilled afternoon drink.

2. Ruma Puteh

Ruma Puteh is a bungalow in KL and almost every corner of it is Insta-worthy. It borderline looks like a mini art museum with a tinge of tropical vibes.

The cafe's menu includes a mix of Western and Asian dishes, such as laksa Bugis, nasi kerabu, and more.

3. Planter Chin

There's an oasis in Bangsar, especially for plant enthusiasts. Planter Chin is filled with gorgeous plants; it's like a mini sanctuary for those who want good coffee away from city noise but not too far away. ;)

4. Luckin Kopi

If you are walking around KL, stop over at Luckin Kopi, which is located near the famous Kwai Chai HongIt's an over 100-year-old shophouse that was converted into a contemporary kopitiam that'll take you back in time. 

It believes that connection starts with a cup of coffee, so naturally, its signature is its kopi kaw.

5. Butter Pantry

New to the scene, The Butter Pantry mixes industrial interior with hints of greenery. It's located above Hanwoori Restaurant and serves a variety of pastries and coffee. Customers particularly enjoy its mushroom miso tartine, matcha yuzu drink, and iced chocolate.

6. Fine Coffee & Flowers

This new Korea-themed cafe opened in Ampang not too long ago and everything here looks oh so pretty, from its interior to its desserts. Sharing a space with a florist, Fine Coffee & Flowers does great coffee and brunches. Some highly recommend its black sesame pudding.

7. Fox Paradox

Located in The Grange KL comes this new spacious cafe, which serves everything from mango gluten-free pancakes to Venetian slow-cooked lamb pasta.

A must-try item on its menu is its kombucha. It's definitely one spot to check out, especially if you're looking for brunch/lunch that won't sacrifice quality.

8. Sunday Coffee & Cakes

If you're in Old Klang Road area, drop by this cosy eatery tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood. It's hidden among a row of inconspicuous shop lots, away from the typical OUG cafe areas.

It serves Japanese-style meals, including its famous tamagoyaki sando and mentaiko egg sandwich.

9. Yewyew

Located just a few minutes walk away from Lai Foong lala noodles and Rex KL is this small cafe that offers mainly pastries and cakes, along with coffee. Head over here for a cup of coffee after a hearty lunch or mini tour around KL.

10. Three Guys

We love a cosy coffee shop and Three Guys does it perfectly. Matching its Japanese-inspired interior, the cafe serves Japanese fusion food like rice bowls and matcha lattes.

There are little nooks with books for you to browse through, which adds to the cafe's homey ambience.

11. Michelle Young

12. Small Shifting Space

Come for coffee and stay for the wine, Small Shifting Space (SSS) is a coffee space and a wine bar all in one.

Located at the Petaling Street area, SSS is said to serve a wicked espresso tonic. At night, Chef Chin Wong (along with the occasional guest chef) comes out to play, cooking up exquisite dishes to pair with your drinks.

13. Kafe Kleptokrat

Kafe Kleptokrat has recently gained tremendous online attention and it's not hard to see why. This little gem in KL, which shares the space with several others, will make you feel like you're on a holiday away from the city.

The cafe does Western and Malay dishes but just be prepared to queue 'coz it can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends.

14. Kaffe 16

After wandering around KL, take a stroll to Kaffe 16 for a little pick-me-up coffee, cake, or meal. Kaffe 16 keeps its interior minimal, embracing its high ceilings, a black spiral staircase, and brick walls. Stop for a cuppa over a good chat!
