A video of a nasi lemak stall in Dungun, Terengganu is going viral for showing its vendor packing a whopping RM410 order for her customers

The eye-watering price for the supposedly humble meal at the seaside stall has garnered over 1.8 million views since the video was published.

In the TikTok video, the shop owner, known as Umi, can be seen packing an order for seven packets of nasi lemak.

The customers had also ordered a variety of side dishes, including two lobsters, two giant squids, a handful of prawns, fish roe, two pieces of fried chicken, and some sambal quail eggs.

The total price of the order came up to RM410, with the two lobsters alone costing RM180.

While some netizens were shocked by the lavish cost of a nasi lemak dinner, others argued that the price was actually very reasonable given the current market price of seafood

"I sell nasi lemak too, and I got scared looking at that price," commented a TikTok user.

"I got shocked to read RM410; I thought it was a typo for RM4.10. But after watching the video and seeing the lobster, it makes sense," said another netizen.

Meanwhile, another person calculated, "RM410 divided by seven packets of nasi lemak comes to about RM60 per person. I think that's okay because you get to eat a bit of lobster, squid, and prawns. Once a year... or if you have more money, once a month."

Acknowledging the criticism surrounding her video, Umi has stepped forward to clarify that her stall's lobster and giant squid side dishes are, in fact, the most popular items on the menu

In an interview with Hot FM, she emphasised that her stall clearly displays the prices of her dishes and noted that representatives from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry have previously visited to ensure her pricing is fair.

The owner of Umi Nasi Lemak, situated at Ma Ani Selera Kampung on Pantai Teluk Lipat, also shared that her largest order to date reached RM1,200, with the customer purchasing five lobsters and 12 giant squids.
