1. Zum Stammtisch German Restaurant & Bar

For a relaxing atmosphere, check out Zum Stammtisch, a German restaurant serving everything from pork knuckle and sausages, to mussels, pork ribs, and other German dishes.

If you have no idea what to order, the restaurant's manager is extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations! There are also tables outdoors in front of the restaurant, which are just as cosy as inside.

2. Aliyaa

Walking by Aliyaa, it's hard to resist the urge to grab a seat and order straight away. The smells are enough to make your mouth water.

The restaurant specialises in Sri Lankan cuisine with customer faves, such as lamb varuval, appam, mutton bone peratal, and crab curry. 

It can get pretty packed, even on weekdays, so it's best to reserve a table to avoid disappointment.

3. Yakiniku Great

Founded in Utsunomiya, Japan, Yakiniku Great opened the first of its franchise in Malaysia back in April and has already received rave reviews on its food. It specialises in rare Japanese wagyu beef cuts that some say melt in your mouth and is worth it, especially for a special occasion.

They have omakase sets that offer around five to seven different wagyu beef cuts, so you can try a variety at one go. There are also special sauces created by their in-house chefs that you probably won't find anywhere else.

4. Chateau Dionne KL

Planning a proposal or a fancy girls' night out? This French fine dining restaurant, which opened last year, sets the perfect mood for a special occasion.

You can order course meals or individual main courses, including wagyu beef cheek bourguignon, duck breast mille feuille with foie gras, and more, along with desserts. They're also open for lunch on weekdays if you prefer an afternoon date!

5. KINME Sashimi & Grill Bar

Reviews say that KINME Sashimi & Grill Bar offers fresh, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth quality of sashimi. They also do lunch sets. Ambience wise, it's said to be a pretty simple, quiet setting, perfect for a catch-up with a friend over some good Japanese food.

6. Umameat

Umameat is a halal-certified steakhouse with several outlets, one of it in Damansara Heights. They're known for offering quality wagyu steaks, beef wraps, and beef brisket. If you're craving for a good hunk of meat, check them out.

From the same owners behind Fierce Curry House and the famous siew yoke biryani, Meat The Porkers offers that and more. Some dishes we love are their tandoori pork ribs, spicy mutton with naan crisps, and butter chicken. They also have vegetarian options.

8. Aria

Aria offers Italian cuisine, with recommended dishes like prawn aglio olio, mushroom risotto, and lamb shank, among others. The lunch sets are also said to be pretty reasonable, you can order an appetiser, pasta / pizza, and a drink for just RM20.

9. Sushi Kazu

Sushi Kazu is an omakase fine dining Japanese restaurant tucked away in Plaza Batai. There are seats by the counters where you can watch as each dish is specially prepared by their Japanese chefs. A relaxing experience as a treat for the parents, a date, or a chill birthday celebration.

10. Frangipaani

Located at The Republik, Frangipaani is a classy restaurant offering exquisite Indian food since 2019. The space is designed to give a stylish British colonial mansion feel with a grand piano sitting in the centre of the restaurant and live music on weekends. There's also an open-air patio where you can dine at while sipping on cocktails.

Some recommended dishes are their mango fish curry, panipuri, and deep fried prawns.

11. Gin Rik Sha

Situated at Plaza Damansara, Gin Rik Sha has been around for quite some time offering a variety of tasty Indian dishes with a modern twist. Some must-tries are the Kerala prawns, panipuri, cranberry cream cheese bites, and lamb ribs. 

They also have happy hours, known as 'Gin O'Clock', when you can order a G&T for around RM12, along with other drinks like wine, beer, tequila, and whiskey.

12. Cotta

Date nights or catch-ups don't necessarily need to take place at night. Cotta is a hidden gem in Damansara Heights tucked within a mini mart — kinda like a speakeasy-style cafe. 

They're known for their delicious brunches and freshly made ricotta cheese. A warm and inviting space with good food... need I say more?

13. Cata

Cata brings Meditarranean flavours to KL with their Spanish, French, and Italian cuisines. This charming European-style restaurant serves hot and cold tapas, wood-fired pizzas, gnocchi, and cheese platter, among other yummies. They also have a good selection of wine and cocktails.

14. Jhann

Jhann is an elegant North Indian restaurant that's great for a birthday celebration or any other special occasion. Some of the items on their menu include lamb and seafood dishes, as well as unique cocktails. They also have some vegetarian options like roasted aubergine steak.

15. Blonde

Especially popular when it first opened, Blonde is a chic-looking restaurant in The Republik that saw long queues of eager customers just weeks into their opening. As part of the Serai Group, they offer Western and Asian fusion, along with their signature deconstructed pavlova.
